LifeBuilder and Sankara Eye Foundation

One career which is open to girls in India is nursing. The high cost of training for this however puts it out of reach for girls from families where poverty exists. LifeBuilder has partnered up with Sankara Eye Foundation to provide vocational training opportunities and employment for girls from these poor rural communities in India. Forty girls from villages in Punjab, India will be starting training at the Sankara Eye Hospital to become ophthalmology nurses. All of their training costs will be covered and in addition they will be provided with a small stipend to support them while they are training.

When the girls are fully trained they will have the opportunity to work as nurses in a new Sankara Eye Hospital which will soon be opening in Punjab. This opportunity will allow the girls to help pull themselves and their families out of poverty.
