Jaswinder's Story - a women dairy entrepreneur

Before becoming a LifeBuilder dairy entrepreneur, Jaswinder and her husband Kulwinder lived hand to mouth. The cost of sending their children to school was too expensive for them and their poverty meant that the family's diet consisted of just bread and water. In short their future was bleak.

That was until Jaswinder became a LifeBuilder Women Dairy Entrepreneur and became a cow owner.

Jaswinder Dairy EntrepreneurHer cow has...

- Allowed her children to go to school.

- Enabled her and her family to eat three nourishing daily meals.

- Helped pay off her loans.

- Given her life skills which help her run the household.

- Given her a sense of pride.

- The opportunity to have calves thus increasing her assets.

- Given her long term sustainable employment.

“LifeBuilder has given me the skills I need to support my family"

LifeBuilder gave Jaswinder a grant to buy a cow, trained her in how to be a dairy farmer, taught her how to manage finances and partnered with a dairy so that she
gets a good price for her milk. LifeBuilder is a charity which works with poor and marginalised communities in India empowering them to improve their own social and economic wellbeing. We give individuals the opportunity to gain skills to help them achieve viable employment. It’s not about hand outs its about giving people a hand up, the tools to take advantage of their new skills and the opportunity to improve their lives through market linkages, the rest is left to them. Poverty Fighting Cow
