"My situation has been very vulnerable ever since my son was kidnapped and killed about 15 years ago, this loss had a big impact on my life – not only had I lost a beloved son but also I lost the person who was going to support me in my old age.
Before I started on the LifeBuilder dairy scheme the only way I could earn a living was to be a day labourer. I worked very long hours whilst my daily pay was only 80 rupees (just over £1). The work was physically hard, irregular, and I rarely knew when I’d next work which made me feel worried. Before becoming a LifeBuilder Dairy Entrepreneur I wasn’t able to afford electricity in my home or get the medical care I needed after losing all my teeth."

"Now with support from LifeBuilder, I’m a dairy entrepreneur, I am the owner of five cows – two of which are currently pregnant which makes me very happy."
Kulwant earns, after paying the costs for looking after her cows, at least 2500 rupees (about £35) a month for working four hours a day 6 days a week (100+ rupees a day). Her income will continue to increase as the herd gets stronger and milk yields improve.
“Now, not only do I have a secure reliable income but I also enjoy the camaraderie of working with other women.”
Just £100 can provide a women like Kulwant with a cow. We have over 300 women on our waiting list – we can’t help them until we get the funding to set up the women with their first cow. Please consider making a donation today by clicking here.
