English Language Training

Literacy ProgrammeAs the Indian economy grows, the measure separating those who are able to become active participants within it and those who are not able to, is the ability to speak English. Being fluent in English opens up the many opportunities of working with local, national and international organisations. Having a simple skill like this can change a life – it can be a catalyst for moving an individual and their family out of poverty as the English speaker can command greater income in the job market with this skill.

However, English courses can be very expensive – putting them out of reach of some of the poorer residents of rural villages in India. This skill and the opportunities it affords become exclusive to the wealthy only.

LifeBuilder is however changing this situation by setting up free English courses helping students to prepare for IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Examinations; the successful passing of which is a pre-requisite for these improved employment opportunities.. We use native English speakers to help improve the fluency of LifeBuilder’s students.

LifeBuilder would not be able to run these courses without volunteer teachers and funding from our supporters. Just £10 could help provide books and stationary for our students.

Can you help?

We need TOEFL and IELTS qualified trainers to run the program,

plus teaching assistants (who do not need to be qualified, just

energetic and keen to help!) to work with them.
